This existing KFC store is located in Melville, near the University of Johannesburg, directing the refurbishment’s attention to create an interactive space for students. The proposal opted for a departure from the customary KFC architectural style, seeking to fashion an extraordinary store that exudes the essence of the KFC brand to its customers.

A multi-functional gathering space is introduced in the shape of an informal amphitheater. The inherent warmth of the space, coupled with the moody atmosphere of the interior, cultivates a sense of welcome and intimacy throughout the surroundings.

An integral aspect of this flagship store was the integration of sustainable features, exemplified by elements like the rammed earth wall and solar control louvres. The prominent use of a rammed earth wall served as a distinctive approach to infusing natural elements into the design, all the while remaining in harmony with KFC’s brand aesthetic.
