TJA Pretoria is a multidisciplinary design firm delivering architecture, interior design, urban design and project management services across Africa for more than 45 years. The practice is dedicated to a considered design approach that treats each individual project as an opportunity to translate complex ideas and contrasting informants into unique interventions appropriate to its time and context.
The intention is to create enduring interventions and spaces designed around the human experience. At the same time we wholly understand the commercial objectives and the risks that must be balanced to bring projects to fruition successfully with a resultant built form of depth and quality that meets the highest standards of excellence.

Although our team is based in Pretoria, we have been involved in projects throughout South Africa. Whether in Johannesburg, Polokwane, Durban, Cape Town or Thohoyandou, our team is highly proficient and experienced to ensure projects that are situated outside of the borders of Gauteng are completed in time and within budget.
Furthermore, the practice has extensive experience in working outside of the borders of South Africa where we have successfully completed projects in Zambia, Kenya, Gabon, Ghana, Mozambique, eSwatini (Swaziland) and Namibia. We are at this stage involved with projects in the following countries outside of South Africa: Senegal, Tanzania, and Mauritius.
We are well versed in the restrictions and intricacies of being involved with projects that require months of pre-construction planning and completing in countries where systems and procedures are in contrast and at a markedly different pace to those in South Africa.
