The redesign of the entrance lobby at Hatfield Studios proposes a recognisable character for the client’s brand offering in Pretoria by introducing legibility, colour and interest. The acoustic quality in the space is improved by adding soft finishes and furniture.
Borrowing design elements from the design language introduced at the Varsity Studios development such as the shopfitting elements, fabrics, carpets and furniture allows an identity to flow through all of the offerings. This continuity of design creates a brand identity across the Pretoria portfolio of the Feenstra group.

Legibility and functionality of the space is achieved by making use of materials and colours to define spaces. Carpeted areas dictate where people should sit and relax and tiled areas where circulation occurs - aiding in the managing of traffic in the lobby and emphasizing wayfinding. By adding soft finishes, the lobby becomes more inviting whilst improving the acoustic quality. As the public face of the building, the lobby interior is intended to be a more interactive space providing an enhanced user experience.
